May the blessings of the Triple Gem be with you all!
Today, through our spiritual teachings, I wish to explain a topic I have chosen for our collective reflection: how to awaken the Kundalini energy (Kundalini Awakening) through what we call Universal Spiritual Exercises. My hope is to not only explain this concept but also to provide practical guidance so you can engage with it directly. Many of you may already be familiar with the term from my previous teachings. For those who are new to this idea, let me offer a gentle introduction to what these Universal Spiritual Exercises are.

What Are Universal Spiritual Exercises?
We have previously introduced two distinct meditation programs: the ‘Third Eye Practical Meditation Program‘ and the ‘Path to the Brahma Worlds Program.‘ As practitioners advance in these methods, certain phenomena can arise. This is where the Universal Spiritual Exercises begin to manifest. It is important to note, however, that this experience is not universal; it happens for some but not for others, a point I have mentioned before.
So, what exactly are these Universal Spiritual Exercises?
They are spontaneous physical events that occur within our bodies as we deepen our meditation practice. They are not something we force; they happen naturally. As we progress in the two meditation programs I mentioned, some practitioners begin to notice specific sensations and movements. I have shared information about these experiences before to help you understand them.
Common Manifestations: When the Body Moves on Its Own
So, what are these specific feelings and movements that some people experience?
About few days ago, in a teaching about the signs of awakening Kundalini and Universal Energy, I touched upon these Universal Spiritual Exercises. When this cosmic energy, or Vishwa Shakti, begins to enter our system, our body can respond with natural, spontaneous actions. As we develop the mind and make strong resolutions (a practice known as adhiṭṭhāna), the universe gives us certain gifts. One of these gifts is the spontaneous movement of the body. It can feel as if someone or something else is moving you, a motion that is beyond your conscious control.
I have heard this from many people who practice with me, both personally and those who follow our teachings online. After meditating for some time, as universal energy enters them through their diligent practice, they experience several distinct things:
- Their neck begins to rotate, moving from side to side.
- They feel a stretching sensation in the neck.
- While in a seated meditation posture, their spine and head begin to bend forward automatically. Many people became frightened by this, but my previous explanations have helped to alleviate their fears.
- The body moves spontaneously, with arms and legs lifting on their own.
- While meditating, the hands might move by themselves and form what are known as mudras, symbolic hand gestures. There are about nine types of these gestures, many of which are seen in depictions of the Buddha. The hands naturally move to the knees and form these gestures, shifting the meditation into a new, profound state.
These are the kinds of natural signs that practitioners have reported.
A Unique Path: Why It Doesn’t Happen to Everyone
You may now have a clearer understanding of the Universal Spiritual Exercises, a topic I felt needed more detailed explanation. There is a reason these things happen. However, I must emphasize a crucial point: this does not happen to everyone, and that is perfectly fine.
There are individuals whose Third Eye, or Dibba-cakkhu (the Divine Eye of clairvoyant insight), is open, yet they do not experience these movements. There are others who experience them as their Third Eye opens. And there are still others, whether their Third Eye is open or not, who never have these experiences at all. There is a great diversity among practitioners.
I want to state this clearly: there is no rule that says this must happen to you. It is not a requirement for progress. The correct attitude is one of equanimity, it is the same whether it happens or not. We should not crave it if it’s absent, nor become attached to it if it’s present.

How to Work with This Energy: Embrace, Don’t Resist
So, how should we engage with these Universal Spiritual Exercises when they arise?
As I mentioned, these spontaneous movements of the limbs and body happen as we continue our meditation practice. At unimaginable moments, different types of energies enter our system. There is a way we must face this.
When these energies and their resulting activities manifest, we must allow them to happen. We must engage with these activities. All the movements I described earlier, the neck turning, the body bending, should be permitted. Since they happen naturally, we need to set aside a specific time for them. As we meditate, we begin to understand the nature of our mind, the states of deep concentration, or samādhi, that arise, and the flow of energy. We come to realize that these Universal Spiritual Exercises are a gift given to us by the universe, through its cosmic energy.
This is what we must grasp. Many people experience this during meditation and become frightened. They resist it and try to stop it. My advice is this: set aside time for it to happen. Do not be afraid. When we are developing our spiritual life, we must not fear anything. If we become afraid, we cannot continue this journey. Fear is something that leads us astray, obstructs our path, and can even destroy our progress. There is absolutely no need to be afraid of anything on this path.
Conclusion: A Path Free from Fear
This experience is felt and understood by many who walk this spiritual path with dedication. I speak from my own personal experiences and from what I know of others who are striving to develop their spiritual lives. As I’ve said, it has happened to some and not to others. This is simply the way these things unfold.
I have mentioned these Universal Spiritual Exercises in many previous teachings, including those on ‘Practical Experiences with Universal Energy and Kundalini Energy‘ and ‘Sensations Felt When Universal and Kundalini Energy Awaken.‘ My goal has always been to clarify these phenomena so you can proceed with confidence.

With this teaching on using Universal Spiritual Exercises to awaken your Kundalini energy, I will conclude. May the power and blessings of the Triple Gem help you all. May your own energies be strengthened, and may all of this become a supportive condition for you to attain states of deep meditation (jhāna), higher knowledge (abhiññā), and extraordinary mental abilities.
