Welcome. In our previous discussion, we touched upon the puzzling phenomenon of ‘Cosmic Agents’ experiencing a retreat or facing significant spiritual setbacks in their lives. Many of you shared your own experiences, confirming this reality through comments and private messages, while others silently recognized the truth in this observation. Today, we will explore the answer to the question that arose from that teaching: Why does nature itself seem to cause these spiritual setbacks for Cosmic Agents?
If you are new to this series of teachings, I encourage you to explore our earlier articles to understand the context. Specifically, for those unfamiliar with the term ‘Cosmic Agents,’ reading our collection of articles on this topic will provide a foundational understanding.
In essence, we use this term to describe individuals who are deeply inclined towards the spiritual path. These are people who wish to develop their inner world, live a life free from harming others, and progress peacefully. While they may aspire to worldly success, they often find their progress limited, whether in education, career, or business. They face a unique set of challenges and obstacles, and today, we seek to understand why.
The Frustration of Blocked Paths
Let’s consider a specific example. Imagine one of these spiritually-inclined individuals, a Cosmic Agent, tries to enter politics or dedicate themselves to social service. Despite their sincere efforts and perhaps even having many supporters, they often fail. The necessary help doesn’t materialize at the right moment. When they attempt social work, they face an overwhelming wave of conflicts and disappointments, often forcing them to retreat entirely.
This pattern of facing obstacles and experiencing spiritual setbacks is a recurring theme. I have personally encountered many such individuals who have shared stories of these disheartening experiences. When we combine these observations with the points from our last teaching, a crucial question emerges: Why does nature orchestrate these spiritual setbacks? To answer this, we must first understand the unique spiritual foundation of the land we are discussing: Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka: The Island Entrusted with the Dhamma
To grasp the depth of this topic, we must look at the history of Sri Lanka. It is an undeniable, historically and archaeologically proven fact that the foundational nation of this island is the Sinhala people. This is not a point of debate but a reality supported by countless historical sources. Even if someone from another faith is reading this, this historical truth is the starting point. While many nations have their own lands, for the Sinhala people, this island is their only home in the entire world.
Furthermore, after the final passing away of the Buddha in India, what we call the Parinibbana, it is said that even from his deathbed, the Buddha declared, “My teaching will be preserved in the island of Lanka.” This is documented in texts like the Milinda Pañha (The Questions of King Milinda), which arose from a dialogue 500 years after the Buddha’s passing. This text clearly states that the pure Theravada Buddhist teaching, the Dhamma, would be protected and would flourish in Sri Lanka. While some may not accept this particular text, a careful reading reveals profound wisdom and beautiful analogies that can bring great understanding.
With the arrival of the great enlightened monk, Arahant Mahinda, the Buddha’s teachings became deeply rooted in the Sinhala nation. The people embraced it not just in theory but in practice, both through material offerings (āmisa pūjā) and through the practice of the path itself (patipatti pūjā).
From the time of King Devanampiyatissa to the present day, a lineage of rulers has upheld this tradition. The kings of this land were of Sinhala heritage and were protectors of Buddhism, governing in accordance with the Dhamma. They even offered the entire island to the Buddha’s teaching on numerous occasions, dedicating it to the preservation of the Dhamma.
The Legacy of Sacrifice and the Modern Erosion
Great kings like Dutugemunu dedicated their lives to protecting this heritage, driving out invaders like Elara, even at the cost of engaging in battle. Some might argue that protecting a religion shouldn’t involve violence. However, they had to fight these wars to preserve the very teachings that allow us to hear words like Vipassanā (insight meditation), ‘destroy the defilements,’ or ‘eradicate craving’ today. It is because of the sacrifices of kings like Dutugemunu, Walagamba, and Parakramabahu that the core teachings, the Tripitaka, have been preserved for us.
If an enlightened being, an Arahant, or a noble disciple at any stage of awakening (Sotāpanna, Sakadāgāmi, Anāgāmi) arises today, or if a monk with psychic powers (pañca-abhiññā) exists, it is because of the foundation laid by those ancient Sinhalese people who protected the Dhamma. This is a truth we must remember.
Historically, this nation was built on unity, mutual understanding, and a clear sense of right and wrong. People were honest and hospitable. However, with Western invasions, the Portuguese, Dutch, and British, this began to change. These powers introduced addictive substances and systematically ‘brainwashed’ the people, corrupting their minds. The genetic and cultural integrity of the nation was diluted.
Today, we see the results: unlike people in other countries who love and protect their nation, religion, and culture, many in Sri Lanka now look down upon their own heritage. From language and dress to festivals, our own culture is belittled. This decline was a systematic process that began long ago. The ‘independence’ of 1948 was not true freedom; the colonizers left, but only after installing people who would serve their interests. That same governing structure persists today, keeping the nation in a state of underdevelopment.
The Unseen War: Mara’s Agenda in the Modern World
This brings us to a deeper, spiritual understanding. In previous teachings, I have explained the concept of Māra, the personification of the forces antagonistic to enlightenment. Māra can be understood as an unseen force that seeks to control the world. Today, foreign powers act as agents of this force, attempting to take control of Sri Lanka. If you observe current events, you will see that these external forces are trying to run the country. But behind them, at the highest level, is Māra.
Their goal is simple: to seize our land, enslave our people, and use our strategic location for their global agenda. I have detailed their objectives in a previous teaching on how Māra controls the world. No matter which political party you think is good, or which leader you elect, true prosperity will not come. They are all, knowingly or unknowingly, following an agenda set by these foreign powers, an agenda that belongs to Māra’s faction.
To achieve their goals, they must attack the two pillars of this nation: the Sinhala people and Buddhism. They are working tirelessly to destroy both. Disguised as monks, agents of Māra have entered the Sangha (the monastic order) and are preaching false doctrines, that there is no rebirth, that the Buddha was just an ordinary man, and that the Tripitaka is false. They use their academic degrees to lend credibility to these destructive views, but they lack any genuine spiritual development. They are merely repeating knowledge from books. You must understand, these are the forces of Māra at work.
The Systematic Attack on Culture and Morality
This attack is systematic and multi-pronged. They are now targeting our sexuality by promoting concepts like homosexuality, which leads to the confusion and corruption of our youth. The natural order is disturbed, and the minds of young children are being steered in this direction. This is another strategy of these foreign forces, of Māra, to create internal decay. These poisonous ideas are being fed to you and your children to weaken the nation from within.
Their ultimate long-term goal is the complete eradication of Buddhism and the Sinhala nation from this land, perhaps by the year 2050. This may seem far away, but the process has already begun. There are numerous conspiracies unfolding, some of which cannot be spoken of publicly for fear of being monitored by intelligence agencies.
These foreign powers fund different groups for different purposes: some to distort the Dhamma, others to change the culture, and others to promote lifestyles that weaken our social fabric. They even study spiritual channels like this one, using algorithms to monitor what is being said. Groups like ISIS have even tracked my location. This is the extent of their reach.
We are heading towards a great destruction in the coming years. This won’t just be natural disasters; it could involve man-made calamities and violence. We cannot predict exactly how or when it will erupt, but spiritual insights gained through meditation and psychic abilities like the ‘Third Eye’ (dibba-cakkhu) confirm that difficult times are ahead. Māra’s forces have Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C. The future for your children and your family does not look beautiful; a darker path is more likely.
The Great Secret: Your Spiritual Setbacks Are Your Protection
Now, we finally arrive at the answer. If you are a ‘Cosmic Agent’, someone who has come to this life from a heavenly or Brahma realm, you may find that you cannot enjoy the worldly pleasures, positions, and sensual experiences that you desire. The reason is the presence of these destructive people in society. If you were to stand out or become successful, you would be identified by them. You would fall into their traps and risk being destroyed.
Therefore, unseen forces, benevolent deities of right view (Sammā Diṭṭhi devas), or righteous beings from the Yakkha, Nāga, or other realms, are actively protecting you. As I’ve mentioned before, you have guardians. These beings are deliberately holding you back to keep you safe. They might be ‘hiding’ you from society, preventing you from gaining a prominent position, and making you feel isolated. Even if you are a virtuous person who performs meritorious deeds, they prevent you from rising too high to protect you from the dangers of this world.
This is why your efforts in social service and politics fail; nature itself pulls you back. It’s why, as a righteous and law-abiding person, you cannot advance to high positions in corrupt systems. A person like you cannot survive in such an environment. So, you are made to retreat. The spiritual setbacks you experience are a form of divine intervention. Nature creates a situation where you can survive, even if it’s not the life you planned.
How to Live with this Understanding
Instead of relying on psychic powers, use your own wisdom (paññā). Do not blindly accept everything you hear on social media or the news. Observe your surroundings with a discerning mind. Keep two fundamental truths at heart: this country belongs to the Sinhala people, and its foundation is Buddhism.
It is because of this foundation that people of all races have the opportunity to attain Nibbāna (liberation). Holding this perspective does not make you an extremist; it makes you a good Sinhalese, a good Buddhist, and a spiritual person. From this angle, observe the world.
If you develop your spiritual faculties as we teach, such as the Third Eye, you can see these things for yourself. You will understand why you were born in this era and why you are experiencing these spiritual setbacks. You will realize that you are being protected by nature and by benevolent deities. They may have ‘stuck’ you in one place, limiting your worldly progress and even your meditative states to a certain level, to shield you from a greater danger.
This is your protection. If you were to take that next big leap, you could be destroyed, harmed, or even made to disappear. The dangers are that severe. Therefore, understand that you are receiving exactly what you need, no more, no less. This realization should bring a sense of freedom to your mind. The answer to your frustration is this: “I am being protected because a great destruction is foreseen.”
Your Path Forward: Cultivating Inner Strength and Gratitude
So, what should you do? Cultivate more gratitude. Offer merits to the benevolent deities and unseen forces who protect you. Thank them for their guidance. This strengthens your connection and allows them to guide you on a wholesome path. This is why you are not allowed to indulge excessively in sensual pleasures (kāma).
If you did, you would become addicted and follow the worldly path to ruin. Your frustrations push you towards cultivating virtue (sīla), concentration (samādhi), and spiritual practice. You may not enjoy the material comforts others do, but you are being shielded from the coming destruction.
It is vital that you engage in spiritual practice. Chant protective verses (pirith) daily. Most importantly, practice loving-kindness meditation (mettā bhāvanā). Radiate mettā to your home, your environment, and in all ten directions. Dedicate an hour or two each day to this practice. The future is not clear or safe. Your spiritual development is your true refuge.
This teaching might sound like madness to some. But this ‘madness’ is being proven by the evidence we see in the world today. When you understand this, your mind will mature. You will develop patience and equanimity. This is why I emphasized patience, non-anger, and calmness at the beginning of the year. The more you cultivate wholesome qualities, the more protection you receive.
When you maintain your precepts, it is easier for your divine guardians to send you correct messages and help you. Without a foundation of virtue, your mind is dark, and it becomes easy for Māra’s forces and malevolent beings to mislead you. Think back on your life; you have likely had near-misses where you were saved from doing something harmful at the last second. That could have been your good kamma (intentional action) or the intervention of these unseen protectors.
A Final Clarification and Encouragement
Right now, you may be mired in economic problems, legal troubles, and family conflicts. You may feel stuck in every aspect of life. All of this is part of being held in one place, being preserved through a dangerous time. This teaching is not a prophecy, and you should not expect predictions from me. I have shared this message because it needed to be delivered.
I am not aligned with any political party. I praise what is good and do not praise what is not. Do not get attached to parties or politics. Stay neutral and observe. Personally, I do not trust any of the current leaders, for what is shown on the surface is not what exists within. Great conspiracies are unfolding. Many disasters have been averted in the past only because of the meritorious energy of our people and the intervention of benevolent deities.
This message is for those to whom it applies. It may not be for everyone. Your life is also influenced by your past kamma, your wholesome and unwholesome deeds. But as an answer to the question of persistent spiritual setbacks, the primary reason is protection.
Understand this and act accordingly. It will safeguard your future and the future of your children. This teaching is not meant to incite hatred towards other religions or races. There are good people in all communities who understand these truths. The problem lies with extremists among them. We must have unity among ourselves to withstand the hidden agendas that seek to deceive and destroy us.
With this understanding, I hope you have found the answer to why Cosmic Agents face spiritual setbacks from nature itself.
