May the blessings of the Triple Gem be with you all!

Many of you have begun a spiritual journey with us, seeking a deeper connection with yourselves and the world. As you start to walk this path, you begin to experience something truly special.

Through meditation, you may have already noticed your mind entering states of profound concentration, which in the Buddhist tradition is known as Samadhi. Many of you have shared that you are starting to feel a peace you’ve never known before.

This feeling is a form of meditation bliss. It might manifest as a simple sense of relaxation, a feeling of mental freedom, or an indescribable joy that is far more profound than any temporary worldly pleasure. It’s a comfort and ease that arises when you close your eyes and turn your attention inward.

This experience, which can deepen into profound states of meditative absorption called Jhanas, is a natural and certain outcome of dedicated practice. While it feels different for everyone, this growing sense of well-being is the very heart of the spiritual path.

This article is dedicated to helping you not only recognize this meditation bliss but to actively increase it.

How to Deepen Your Meditation Bliss A Simple Buddhist Technique – Discovering the Joy Within Your Spiritual Practice

Why It’s Important to Increase Your Meditation Bliss

You might wonder why we should focus on increasing this pleasant feeling. The goal isn’t simply to chase pleasure. Instead, cultivating this meditation bliss is a skillful means to deepen your spiritual practice. When you learn to enhance this inner joy, two things happen: your mind naturally wants to experience it more, and the quality of the bliss itself intensifies.

This process has profound benefits. It allows your mind to relax more completely, which in turn helps to awaken subtle energies and faculties within your nervous system. This leads to numerous spiritual blessings and positive results, helping you progress more smoothly on your path.

Therefore, embracing this method is essential for anyone serious about developing their mind and cultivating lasting peace. It is a direct way to support your journey toward greater clarity and insight.

The ‘Password’: A Simple Resolution to Amplify Your Peace

For those of you practicing meditations like the ‘Third Eye‘ or ‘Journey to the Brahma Worlds,‘ I want to share a very simple and easy technique. As you practice, your mind becomes accustomed to settling into a state of peace.

In fact, after some time, it will find its way there automatically. You might close your eyes, and within moments, your mind naturally gravitates to that familiar state of calm. This is a sign of progress, and we can use this momentum.

When you feel that sweet spot of meditation bliss, there is a universal ‘password’ (a specific thought or intention) you can use to amplify it. This is not just a thought, but a powerful resolution, known in Pali as an adhittḥāna. The intention is simple and direct. You bring this phrase to mind:

“May this feeling of meditation bliss that I am experiencing be felt more and more.”

Whether you recognize it as the pleasure of concentration (samādhi suwaya) or the deeper joy of absorption (jhana suwaya), the principle is the same. You are using the power of your intention to guide your mind toward an even deeper experience of peace.

Practical Steps: When and How to Use This Technique

So, how do you put this into practice? It’s very straightforward.

When you sit down to meditate and your mind settles into that familiar place of comfort and ease, simply make this resolution two or three times. You can also repeat this intention gently throughout your meditation session, perhaps every few minutes.

There’s no need to be rigid. Sometimes, the meditation bliss will become so absorbing that you forget to make the resolution, and that’s perfectly fine. Whenever you remember, just gently re-introduce the thought: “May this feeling of bliss that I am experiencing be felt more and more.”

The results are tangible and have been confirmed by many who practice with us. I have personally shared this technique with students who later reported that their practice transformed. Their feeling of meditation bliss became stronger, and their ability to sit for longer periods grew immensely. People who used to meditate for 45 minutes found they could easily sit for an hour and a half, two, or even three hours. This is what spiritual development feels like, your capacity for peace grows. This simple ‘password’ can unlock that for you.
